Listing video without a film crew: a practical playbook

Where vehicle video earns its keep, which cars to start with, and how to roll films out across your inventory without adding headcount.

A still from a Horizon template film

TL;DR

Start with the cars that sit longest or carry the most margin, publish the film on the VDP and in social posts, and label it as AI-created. Once the workflow is routine, make a film for every new arrival from the same photos you already shoot.

Where film earns its keep

  • The vehicle detail page, as the first item in the gallery — the place buyers decide whether to enquire.
  • Social posts and stories for new arrivals and price drops.
  • Marketplaces and video platforms that accept a standard MP4.
  • Follow-up messages to leads who asked about a specific car.

Which cars to start with

Don't try to film everything on day one. Start with the stock where attention matters most — high-margin vehicles, cars that have been listed for a while and hero arrivals you want to promote. Measure enquiries on those listings against similar cars without video, then expand.

A workflow that doesn't need headcount

  1. Shoot the normal walkaround with guided capture.
  2. Generate the template set and the film in the same session.
  3. Add the VIN for a voiceover if the car has features worth saying out loud.
  4. Review the film, then publish it alongside the photos.
Tip: Films come without a soundtrack, so you can add music licensed for each channel. Length is up to you, from a quick reel to a longer showroom film.

Keep it honest

A film built from photos includes camera moves that never happened. Label it plainly — "Video created with AI from photos of this vehicle" — and make sure it shows the same car, in the same condition, as the photos.
